If you have ever done a kitchen remodel, you understand how much work goes into it. There is a demo of the existing cabinets and countertops, new drywall, and electrical work. But before you even begin the demo part of the project, you need to consider workflow.
Custom Design and Builds
Maximize Productivity with Copperloy Dock Boards
Your loading dock needs to be efficient as well as safe. Docks can be a dangerous place, especially when forklifts are in use on uneven grades. The risk of injury increases dramatically.
Dock boards, as well as yard ramps, bridge the gap between elevations to help stabilize forklifts and keep your employees safe. With a dock board or a yard ramp, you’ll enjoy a more productive, more efficient, and safer work environment.
Copperloy produces a huge array of dock boards and plates with different capacities, features, and specifications. Did you know that a dock board can be a ramp as well? Even if there isn’t a height difference at the dock, dock boards are still ramps and vital to safe material handling. We offer dock boards as well as plates in both aluminum and steel, with multiple curb options.
Steel Dock Boards with Welded Steel Curbs
Our steel dock boards with welded curbs are capable of enduring even the toughest work environments. In fact, this our most durable dock board option, featuring a steel tread plate date and high-strength, welded steel curbs. These boards come in 15,000 or 20,000-pound capacities with 60, 72, and 84-inch widths as well as other options for height and length differential.
The standard features of our steel dock boards include 5.5-inch curbs, fold-down lifting loops, 18-inch locking legs, and an 11-inch lip. A 14-inch lip is also available along with many other size and capacity options.

Our engineering team has supplied a number of custom solutions, including a two-piece ramp design for a company in Macedonia, Ohio, which manufactures industrial wire and cable. Copperloy was able to design the ramp to handle the large weight capacities of trucks, plus the cable or wire being hauled. The 50-foot-long ramp also allows for trailers with low clearance to drive into their building. Find out more about this custom manufactured dock-to-ground ramp.
Our custom solutions aren’t specific to industrial or warehouse settings. We also designed and built a ramp 99 inches wide for use on a farm in Bowling Green, Ohio. This customer needed a wider-width ramp to load material onto a drop deck trailer.
While our standard yard ramps are available in 70 or 84-inch widths, our engineering team was able to determine a way to provide the necessary specifications for the client. Read more about the shipping challenges we overcame for this particular yard ramp solution.
Have a unique material handling, yard ramps or dock ramp need? Copperloy is here to help with your custom design solution.
Recently, we were approached to build a custom ramp for use on a farm in Bowling Green, Ohio. The ramp, with a 20,000-pound capacity needed to be 99 inches wide. The customer required a ramp with greater width in order to load material onto a drop deck trailer.
With over 60 years of experience, Copperloy has become an industry leader in dock equipment and yard ramps. Our team of professionals is always up to the challenge of finding solutions to new problems. With our in-house engineering department, we can help design a custom product that will meet the needs of virtually any application. We can then turn that design into reality in our 70,000 square-foot steel fabrication facility.
The standard yard ramps built by Copperloy are 36 feet long, available in widths of either 70 or 84 inches, and capacities from 16,000 to 60,000 pounds. From time to time, however, we are asked to build a custom ramp to meet the specific needs of one of our clients.
A ramp with a width of 99 inches presented a new problem: it would not fit into a standard shipping container. We, therefore, had to weld a 91-inch custom extension plate to the top of the ramp, allowing access into seaport containers.
The finished custom ramp is 36 feet long with an 8-foot level off on top. The length and the level off are both standard. Although this particular client did not require it, we are also able to customize a ramp to have a 10-foot level off.
This ramp will need to be moved from farm to farm, a distance of roughly one mile. So, the customer requested the tow bar option, which will allow it to be towed at a low speed of 3 to 5 mph.
This is certainly one of the more singular custom ramps we have built to date. So, if one of our standard yard ramp, dock ramp or loading dock equipment solutions don’t quite meet your needs, the pros at Copperloy are ready to design and build a custom solution that is right for you.
At Copperloy, we’re always proud of our completed custom jobs. That’s because we’ve been able to step up to the plate facing a very specific and typically difficult challenge, and then deliver the client a unique piece of loading dock or material handling equipment which gets the job done perfectly.
The latest example of this is our work with Frontier-Kemper, a contractor who’s involved with the joint venture project undertaken by New York City’s MTA to complete the Eastside Access Queens Bored Tunnels. The ultimate goal of the project is to bring the Long Island Rail Road to the new Eastside Station which will be incorporated into Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal.
As you might imagine, this is a massive undertaking. Four separate 19-foot 6-inch diameter tunnels must be constructed. Together, the four tunnels have a combined length of 10,500 feet.
Frontier-Kemper needed a heavy duty piece of equipment which could manage the huge loads of equipment and supplies they deal with on a daily basis. They needed efficiency, safety, effectiveness and durability, and that’s what we were able to produce.
The end result is a 40,000 pound capacity steel material handling pallet structure. Not only is the capacity above and beyond a standard piece of equipment, but we also provided a unique system to hold down the gear being moved utilizing ratchet straps and fork pockets. In this way, the system is similar to that of a flat bed truck. It’s tailor-made for Frontier-Kemper, and it will be in action for them on this project beginning on October 23rd.

At Copperloy, we pride ourselves on our ability to successfully complete custom design, manufacturing and fabrication projects for our customers. Being able to solve a daunting problem or meet a previously unmatched need is what the Copperloy team is all about. Recently, we were able to produce yet another project for custom loading dock equipment / yard ramp, this time for Stanek Netting Company.
Stanek Netting Company is a textile manufacturer, and they came to us with custom specifications for a heavy duty mobile yard ramp. At their facility, they utilize a fork lift which on its own already weighs over 24,000 lbs. Consider that this is more than many lesser yard ramps are able to support already. Clearly, Stanek needed a serious upgrade, and Copperloy stepped up to the plate.
On top of the fork lift, they carry loads which range from 6,000 to 10,000 lbs. This creates a need to accommodate a cumulative capacity of close to 35,000 lbs, and that’s what the Copperloy team was able to deliver.
We produced our first-ever 35,000 lb. capacity mobile yard ramp for Stanek. The ramp is 36 feet long, 84 inches wide, and features a height range of 38 to 65 inches. This is most similar to our existing 30,000 lb. capacity ramp, however, we had not yet ever produced a 35,000 lb. capacity model.
The ramp was made with A572-50 high strength steel with a 50,000 lb. minimum yield, one of the strongest materials in the industry. It will hold up to the daily demands that Stanek has, and as with all Copperloy material handling equipment, it’s built to last.
It also features all of the great safety features and components that our typical yard ramp offers; making it the best possible solution. Stanek’s new yard ramp is heavy duty, custom-made, safe, long-lasting, and all from Copperloy.
Our expert in-house engineering team can handle any challenge or problem you’re facing. With our state of the art equipment and 70,000 sq. ft. facility, we’ll design and fabricate a solution that meet and exceeds your expectations. Clients come to Copperloy for many reasons. With over 60 years of experience in manufacturing and designing material handling equipment, our name is one people trust for their loading dock equipment.
When a Panama-based client came to us looking for a custom built yard ramp, we had a two-prong situation to address. First, we needed to design a ramp that fit their unique problem and specifications. We also had to focus on safe international shipping of this custom ramp.
MAPEI Construction Chemicals, with division located in Panama, needed a yard ramp with a 10-foot level-off section. Copperloy’s standard level-off section is 8 feet long. The longer level-off was requested because this customer needed enough clearance on the ramp for fork trucks with extra-long forks to safely maneuver.
Due to the fact that this item was shipped internationally, Copperloy’s staff needed to ship the ramp encased in heat-treated lumber. Using this type of shipping method ensured that no insects infiltrated the packaging (for the sake of international shipping concerns) and offered added safety for transporting the custom ramp.
At Copperloy, we work hard to provide customers with the ideal product for their needs, with little hassle. While this ramp was a custom design, Copperloy’s final product and its safe arrival is another instance of our commitment and skillset for proper execution of custom manufactured loading dock equipment.
For over 60 years, we have been offering customers a wide variety of American-made dock equipment. Our large inventory of high-quality products includes mobile yard ramps, truck ramps, and forklift ramps. As seen with MAPEI Construction Chemicals, we also provide custom manufacturing and steel fabrication services to meet any business’s unique needs.

With over 60 years of experience in manufacturing yard ramps for sale, Copperloy is a name people trust when looking for durable, industry leading yard ramps. At Copperloy, we also offer our customers the option of tailor-made ramps to take on any unique challenge or specification. We have an in-house engineering team of skilled experts and are always excited to take on new challenges.
When one of our local clients asked for help with a specialty ramp, we were more than happy to oblige. The company is wire and cable manufacturer called TPC Wire & Cable Corp. They are located in Macedonia, Ohio and needed a ramp to meet a few different specifications.
We started with their main priority. They were looking for a yard ramp that allowed trailers with low clearance to drive into their building.
Since they make industrial wire and cable, they also needed a ramp that could handle the large weight capacities of the trucks plus the cable or wire. TPC Wire & Cable Corp also needed a ramp long enough for large trailers to get into their building, without hitting the ceiling.
After researching more about TPC Wire & Cable Corp.’s needs, Copperloy’s engineering team decided that the best answer was to design a unique 2 piece ramp design. This 2 piece option answered the company’s unique specifications, while also making shipping and unloading a painless task. When joined together, the dock-to-ground ramp is 50 feet long, so we had to get creative as to how it would be best to manufacture and transport to TPC Wire & Cable Corp.
Since this ramp was designed in two pieces, the first ramp is 30 feet long, by 10 feet wide. It gives the trailers space to navigate, while also providing a 30,000 pound capacity. It’s made of steel, with serrated grating, for better traction and durability. The 20 foot extension to this ramp locks into place for easy installation. This saves the user the need to manually bolt the ramps together, while offering peace of mind in Copperloy’s safety procedures and factory certification.
At Copperloy, we want to provide our customers with a hassle-free experience. Although this ramp is a custom design, we still manufactured it for ease of use and safety. TPC Wire & Cable Corp. was concerned about trailers hitting the ceiling during the loading and unloading process at their facility, Copperloy’s 50 foot ramp with custom bends on the extension piece answered this concern.
Put together, this high strength, steel yard ramp allows for 50,000 pound minimum yield and versatility. This custom-designed, stationary yard ramp is also built to last, using high-quality materials.
Copperloy offers customers a wide variety of American made mobile yard ramps that provide a loading and unloading facility where one isn’t already established. This wide range of equipment includes: mobile yard ramps, dock-to-ground ramps, truck ramps, yard ramps and forklift ramps. Our yard ramps are available to rent or buy.
In addition to yard ramps, Copperloy also manufactures a range of material handling equipment, including edge of dock levelers, dock lifts, lift tables, dock boards, rail boards, dock plates, and portable platforms. As seen with TPC Wire & Cable Corp., we also provide custom manufacturing and steel fabrication services to meet any business’s unique needs and demands.
Copperloy provides a variety of other options to help ease the loading and unloading process, making freight easy and accessible. Learn more about what Copperloy can do for your unique application or specification, by calling us directly at 800-321-4968.
The Latest Custom Material Handling Equipment Home Run by Copperloy
At Copperloy, there are few things we love more than hearing from a prospective client who has a unique and difficult problem with some facet of their logistics or material handling, and then delivering the perfect tailor-made solution with a start to finish custom design and build with our in-house team of engineers.
The latest custom material handling equipment home run from our expert engineering team was a heavy duty, 40,000 pound capacity steel pallet. The pallet was for a client in the mining and tunneling industry who needs to haul a great deal of rebar to support their tunneling. A 40,000 lbs steel pallet isn’t something you see everyday and engineering one to safely handle those loads is no small task.
For this client, no rebar means no tunnels, and no tunnels means no mining. And when it’s an inefficient, unsafe or costly mechanism to transport those supplies, the entire process slows to a crawl, hurting the business’s output. Increasing the efficiency of transporting their rebar means big increases in productivity and output.
Yet, they had never been able to find the right equipment to move the rebar safety with a palletized system that could handle the weight of all of that steel. Our engineers coordinated with theirs, and the result was a robust steel pallet with a massive 40,000 lb. capacity, in both 13-foot and 26-foot sizes to accommodate different environments and needs.
We specialize in outside the box designs just like this, and we have with the technology, know how and equipment to pull off successful construction and completion.
Copperloy has the experience and the expertise you can depend upon, and of course, everything we make is proudly produced here in the USA, at our high-tech 70,000 square foot facility in Twinsburg, Ohio. This state of the art facility offers CNC and robotic technology, and our in-house engineering team will see your project through from concept to completion.
Our custom steel fabrication and custom material handling equipment design services are unparalleled and will offer you the solution you’ve been seeking, and whatever type of unique specification or seemingly impossible challenge you’re dealing with, we’re up to the task.
Additionally, we produce a wide range of loading dock and material handling equipment, with an extensive array of specifications including capacities and sizes, such as yard ramps, dock lifts and lift tables, dockboards and railboards, edge of dock levelers, and much more.
With the help of Copperloy, this client can quickly and safely haul up to 40,000 lbs. of rebar to their tunnels. What can we help your business do?
