The Magic of the Yard Ramp Positioning Sleeve

What is a Yard Ramp?

If your business involves shipping or receiving, a yard ramp is one of the most valuable pieces of equipment at your disposal. A yard ramp, sometimes referred to as a yard dock ramp or forklift yard ramp, is a fully mobile loading dock. Yard ramps are helpful when no docks are available by allowing you to move cargo from trucks to ground and from ground to trucks. Yard ramps are often referred to as portable loading docks because they can create freight-handling centers nearly anywhere.

Copperloy builds its yard ramps to accommodate forklifts and allows you to expand your loading dock capacity and efficiency. We leveraged our 50 years of experience in the manufacturing industry to perfect the portable yard ramp. Our steel yard ramps are engineered for both speed and safety. We offer competitive pricing on our new and used yard ramps. We also provide yard ramp rentals to make it easy to expand your shipping or receiving capacity whenever you need to.

Yard Ramp Positioning Sleeve Offers Superior Maneuverability

In addition to creating heavy-duty, portable yard ramps, Copperloy’s culture of innovation led to the development of our combination positioning sleeve and tow bar. All of our steel mobile yard ramps feature this combination, which makes repositioning our ramps quick and easy to accomplish. The positioning sleeve turns 180 degrees. This innovation enables forklift operators to make tight turns with fewer pivots and perfectly position their ramp in just minutes.

How does the positioning sleeve work? The sleeve is designed to work simply with your forklift. Repositioning takes just a few steps:

  1. Position the forklift and slide the fork into the positioning sleeve.
  2. Lift the bottom of the ramp from the ground by raising the fork.
  3. Turn and move to the next location and reposition the ramp.
  4. Lower and remove the fork.
  5. That’s it! Your ramp is ready for its next shipping or receiving task.

Recently re-engineered, our newest positioning sleeves offer more stability than standard designs. They feature three points of connection, versus two, for added strength. Our unique design also minimizes wear and tear on the connection by focusing the rotation on the sleeve rather than on the ramp connection. These features enhance our yard ramps’ safer, more mobile, and longer-lasting ramp designs.

Copperloy’s steel ramps also feature a standard tow bar that allows your team to move the yard ramp at speeds up to 5 miles per hour throughout your facility. (Please note: the positioning sleeve and tow bar are not suitable for road towing.) Copperloy’s innovations will allow your team to move and reposition your yard ramp as often as needed, speeding up your shipping and receiving operations to save your business time and money.

About Copperloy Yard Ramps

Copperloy manufactures portable yard ramps in a wide range of weights and carrying capacities. Designed for heavy-duty use, many of our yard ramps weigh nearly 6,000 pounds. Made in the USA, our one-cylinder ramp design is more stable. It uses less pressure to lift the ramp than traditional yard ramps with two-cylinder hydraulic systems. Our enhanced designs feature more effortless operation, faster rise times, better stability, and solid-filled pneumatic tires for better handling and strength.
